On June 5, 2013 ICAN co-founder Sanam Anderlini and two Syrian civil society activists discussed with Marie O’Reilly, Associate Editor for the International Peace Institute, whether or not nonviolent civil society actors in Syria should be included in the upcoming Geneva peace talks. The discussion emphasized that having a seat at the peace talks is vital for not only the nonviolent civil society actors who are on the ground working towards peace, but for Syrians and the peace process as a whole. However, getting them a seat at the table comes with its own challenges that Anderlini and the Syrian civil society activists offer recommendations on how to deal with.
