Since 2014 when ICAN launched its Better Peace Initiative (BPI), we have been developing innovative tools on how to address gender and inclusion in peace processes. The Better Peace Tool addresses the “how to” question by offering practical guidance for the effective inclusion of gender perspectives and women peacebuilders. It considers six common barriers to inclusion and how to overcome them. This animation is already available in Arabic, English, Farsi, French, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.

We continue to develop animations on gendered thematic topics that are commonly addressed in peace processes. In 2017, we launched Gendered Transitional Justice: Why It matters, how to do it. Our upcoming animation Gendered Devolution will be launched in the coming weeks. The tools are available in multiple languages and have been used by diplomats, governments and grassroots peacebuilders alike.
